New skates part 2?

Sorry about the confusion on the last question.l let me upgrade it.

Before I had a size 11 reidell skates that I got online. (I know my feet are huge I wear size 11) then I went to see a real skate guy to get fitted for new ones. My old skates had very long, flat blades and were really hard to spin on. I am getting a new blade and new boot. The blade will have a rocker on it, and a toe pick that is closer to the ice. I am worried about the toe pick because I recently cut myself in the shin with my last skates with my toe pick and had to get stiches. I have big fall-phobia. The skate guy said It would be efforttless to spin on these blades, I really dont know if I believe him. If anyone has some advice or tips for me plz let me know. Thx

New skates part 2?
HUGE twilight fan . . . Do you see the row of icons that starts with the star . . . go to the last icon where the pencil thing is and go to %26quot;add details%26quot;. Please let us know what blades you had before (if you got the blade separate or if it%26#039;s one that came with the skates) and what blade (brand and model) the skate guy is trying to sell you. And what level you skate in. That way we can help better!!

Your old blades probably had a rocker on them . . . but they may have been entry level blades . . . good to start with - but not to do more advanced moves. I started with a Riedell skate set . . . the blades took me through some jumps and spins. I started slipping with toe jumps with the picks . . . and my spins were going nowhere. So when I switched to a higher model blade (toe picks bigger, closer to the ice), yes, the skating improved GREATLY. I wouldn%26#039;t say spins were %26quot;effortless%26quot; . . . it%26#039;s still a lot of work on the skaters part no matter what skate/blade you get . . . but it does help when your equipment does not fail you!

Oh - don%26#039;t get blades that are way advanced (like triple/quad rated) if you%26#039;re not there yet. They have monster toepicks . . . and it%26#039;s really not necessary to have them at this point (in fact it could hinder the learning process). Get one that%26#039;s most appropriate for your level.

Falling . . . well, you know it happens with skating - it%26#039;s inevitable. Sometimes it%26#039;s good to practice falling just so your body can learn to react when a %26quot;real%26quot; fall happens. Do low two foot dips, shoot the ducks, or lunges and get accustomed to relaxing when falling. If you fear it and tense up, you could injure yourself even more if you fall.

I had stitches from a toe pick incident too!! It was on the side of my knee . . . and I didn%26#039;t do it! My friend came up to say %26quot;hi%26quot; and he fell, rolled on the ice, and kicked the side of knee in the process. He had %26quot;skate set%26quot; blades (small toe picks), but that was enough to go through my leggings, tights, and to my leg. Anything can happen on the ice . . . sometimes they are probably just flook incidents!!

Well, hope this helps!! Good luck!!
Reply:What blade did you used to have? and what blade will you be getting. Most blades that have a decent rocker and larger toe picks don%26#039;t drag on the ice. It may take some getting used to learn how to skate on them better, but I don%26#039;t think it should be too big of a problem, it sounds like you are probably getting better boots and blades than you had before. Good luck!

PS don%26#039;t worry I have big feet too, I wear size 11 (shoe size, my skates are sz. 9)
Reply:NEVER GET SKATES ONLINE!!!

I am a competitive figure skater and i belong to the Atlanta Figure skating club in alpharetta georgia, i am in intermediate, ( 3 more levels to go untill the olympics!! Yay!! ),

I am 12 years old and i have been skating for 8 years. I also just landed my double lutz. anyway, i wear SP terri boots and i have VISION blades. I highly reccomend either vison blades or paramount blades. Paramount blades come in different colors, and i used them before and it really is effortless to spin!!!!

Paramount Blades-

these are the colors they come in

Chrome, icy pink, icy blue, icy purple, snow white

and jet black.

But the rocker on paramount blades dont last for long so i think that you should talk to your coach about vision blades
